Xpertise Recruitment have welcomed Jacob Ferdinand to their Derby team and Octavia Wentworth, Charlie Henrick, Marta Casais, Charlie Mace and Daniel Palomino to their London team. We wanted to find out a little bit more about our new team members and find out why they joined Xpertise Recruitment.

Meet Jacob…

Name and background

Hi, my name is Jacob Ferdinand and I’m originally from Northampton however have spent the last 3 years in Derby after studying Sport Management at the university. I will be working in the project delivery market, specifically in the West Midlands region. In my spare time I am mainly playing football or watching any sport that’s on TV.

Why did you choose Xpertise?

I chose Xpertise because of the immediate warm and people-focused environment that was clearly present within the office and throughout the values of the company. It was also really reassuring to know that I would be going into a company who have a strong reputation within the IT/Tech industry after seeing the multiple awards won and the number of well-respected employees.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, money being no object, where would you go and why?

Jamaica, because this is where my heritage is based from and after having so many good memories of being there on holiday when I was young, I would love to go again!

Meet Marta…

Name and background

I’m Marta, I am Spanish and moved to the UK at 13 when joined a boarding school. I just graduated from Loughborough University in International Relations and I joined the perm Software Engineering team in the London office.  

Why did you choose Xpertise?

I completed a placement year in the recruitment industry and after getting some insight into the field, I thought recruitment could be a good starting point for my career. I really enjoyed the interview process at Xpertise and was made to feel calm and welcome so I thought it would be a great place to start and grow as a graduate!

If you could only invite 3 people to your dinner party, who would you invite and why?

Rafa Nadal: I am a big tennis fan and he’s my favourite player // Rihanna: one of my favourite singers // Michelle Obama: I find her super interesting and it would be great to have a conversation with her over dinner.

Meet Charlie H…

Name and background

My names Charlie, I’ve just finished university studying psychology up in Nottingham with home being Cheltenham for myself. I will be joining the product delivery team which I am excited for. In my spare time I enjoy sports and exercise, having previously competed competitively in rowing, and now train in the gym.

Why did you choose Xpertise?

I chose recruitment as it’s an exciting industry with a lot of career progression and potential to earn good money. I chose Xpertise for the personal touch the company had, as their commitment to building longer lasting relationships with clients and candidates was something I agreed with.

Meet Octavia…  

Name and background
My name is Octavia Wentworth, I am from London, and I have joined the Project Delivery Contract team at the London office. In my spare time I enjoy karate, travelling, and developing new skills and hobbies.

Why did you choose Xpertise?

I chose Xpertise Recruitment as I really enjoyed the personal feel to the company and the culture. I felt supported by Xpertise and not like a number in a system, everyone that I met was really welcoming and friendly which made me feel comfortable straight away.

My first few weeks at Xpertise have been action packed, engaging and a learning curve!

If you could travel anywhere in the world, money being no object, where would you go and why?

If I could travel anywhere, I would choose Japan, it has always been a place that I have wanted to visit due to my interest in karate which I started at four years old. I would love to experience an entirely different culture and visit a country with such beautiful and unique landscapes.

Meet Charlie M…

Name and background

My name is Charlie Mace and I have just completed my MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology. I’m originally from Australia and moved over to the UK just under 20 years ago. I am working under the Cloud & DevOps market, specifically focusing on AWS. In my spare time I am a huge sports fan, particularly Rugby. Hopefully, the Wallabies can win the world cup this year.

Why did you choose Xpertise?

The biggest reason why I chose Xpertise was because they showed me that they cared about their employees and don’t just see them as an individual. Additionally, they showed me that I will be able to cultivate my own career success whilst supporting me in every step of the way.

Name and background

My name is Dan Palomino, I’m from Sutton in South London and I will be joining the project delivery team. I am half English and half Mexican, love to play football and enjoy watching films and series.

Why did you choose Xpertise?

I decided to go into recruitment because I have always enjoyed interacting with people and believe that it is a strength of mine. Xpertise stood out to me due to the way I was welcomed into the office on the day of my in-person interview. It seemed very friendly, hardworking, and driven.
