Joseph is a Senior Consultant with over three years’ experience at Xpertise.

He specialises in operational research, optimisation and decision science, working on an exclusive and retained basis across the UK and Europe. Someone has to decide which crew flies, which van goes where, and what happens when the plan breaks at six in the morning. Increasingly those decisions are made by models, and Joseph finds the people who build them.

His search is backed by a live map of 224 organisations across the UK and Europe with genuine in-house optimisation capability, classified by the problem they solve rather than by job title. It shows which teams are growing, which are standing still, and where the transferable capability sits. A retail supply chain optimiser, for instance, solves the same class of problem as an airline network planner, and almost never gets approached by either.

Favourite part of my job:
His favourite part of the job is checking in with clients and candidates once a placement is complete. Hearing how someone has settled in, and what they’ve gone on to build, is the real measure of whether the search worked.
