Senior AWS DevOps Engineer (Contract)
Location: London / WTS - 2 days per week in the office (with some flex)
Rate: Up to £800 per day Inside IR35
Duration: 6 Months
Start Date: January
We are seeking an exceptional Senior AWS Devops Engineer to join an enterprise-scale transformation programme. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complex environments, enjoys shaping cloud strategy, and can provide deep technical leadership across infrastructure, automation, and platform engineering.
What You'll Do
You will lead the design, build, and optimisation of a large-scale AWS platform, working closely with engineering teams, architects, and senior stakeholders. You'll be hands-on with cloud infrastructure, automation tooling, and container orchestration, ensuring best-in-class reliability, security, and performance.
Key Skills & Experience (Essential)
- Expert, hands-on AWS experience across EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, S3, IAM, CloudFormation, CloudWatch.
- Strong proficiency with Terraform, including modular builds, remote state, and Terraform Cloud/Enterprise.
- Proven experience architecting or leading large-scale cloud platform solutions in enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and processes; ITIL certification highly desirable.
- Solid Linux administration and automation scripting (Python, Bash, or PowerShell)
- Deep knowledge of networking, security, and modern cloud architecture principles.
- Experience building robust CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Strong background with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and documentation skills.
- Able to operate confidently in ambiguous, fast-paced enterprise settings.
Nice to Have (Not Essential)
- Experience building or managing Kafka-based data platforms (streaming pipelines, automation, cloud-native deployment).
- Background in consulting or startup environments.
