A Manchester-based financial services company is hiring a Lead Backend Developer to take ownership of their backend systems, with a strong emphasis on .NET and SQL-heavy platforms.

This role suits someone who enjoys being hands-on with complex backend logic and data-driven systems, while also leading technical direction and mentoring other developers.

The role
• Lead development of backend services using C# and .NET
• Take ownership of data-heavy systems where SQL performance and design are critical
• Influence backend architecture with a focus on scalability, security and reliability
• Mentor developers and set coding and data best practices
• Work closely with product, frontend and DevOps teams to deliver robust financial systems

Tech environment
• C#, .NET / .NET Core
• SQL Server 
• Data-intensive systems and transactional platforms
• REST APIs and service-based architecture
• Cloud environment (Azure preferred)
• CI/CD pipelines and modern engineering practices

What they’re looking for
• Strong experience as a Senior or Lead Backend Developer using .NET
• Very strong SQL skills 
• Comfortable leading technical decisions and mentoring engineers
• Experience balancing clean architecture with real-world delivery
