Contract RAVE Developer (Carmen Crew Management System)

Location: 100% Remote (with occasional travel to the UK – expenses covered)
Contract Type: Contractor / Freelance / B2B

Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Contract Developer with expertise in the RAVE programming language to support a leading UK airline on enhancements and development within the Carmen Crew Management System.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a large-scale aviation workforce optimisation platform used to manage complex airline crew scheduling, planning, and operational processes.

The role will be primarily remote, with occasional travel to the UK for key workshops or collaboration sessions (travel expenses covered).

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain solutions within the Carmen Crew Management System

• Write and optimise RAVE code to support crew planning, rostering, and operational systems

• Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions

• Support configuration and enhancements of crew management modules

• Troubleshoot issues and optimise performance within the Carmen platform

• Participate in system improvements, upgrades, and integration activities

• Document technical solutions and maintain development best practices

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience developing with RAVE (Jeppesen / Carmen rule language)

• Hands-on experience with the Carmen Crew Management System

• Experience working within airline or aviation crew planning environments

• Strong understanding of crew rostering, planning, and optimisation processes

• Ability to work independently in a remote contract environment

• Strong communication skills when working with technical and business stakeholders

Desirable Experience

• Experience working with major airlines or aviation technology providers

• Knowledge of crew optimisation, scheduling algorithms, or workforce planning

• Experience with system integrations within airline operational systems

• Previous contract / freelance experience
