We are partnering with a leading global organisation in a highly regulated sector to appoint a Head of Data Security. This is a senior leadership role with enterprise-wide impact, responsible for driving strategy across data protection, cryptography, and emerging security risks.
The Opportunity
This role offers the opportunity to shape and lead a forward-looking data security strategy, with a strong focus on data leakage prevention (DLP) and next-generation cryptography, including preparation for post-quantum security challenges.
You will work closely with technology, risk, legal, and business leadership teams to embed secure practices at scale while enabling innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and lead the organisation's data security and DLP strategy
- Design and implement enterprise-wide DLP controls and monitoring frameworks
- Establish best practices for data classification, encryption, and lifecycle management
- Lead the organisation's approach to post-quantum cryptography and cryptographic agility
- Evaluate and implement advanced security and encryption technologies
- Provide expert leadership in security incidents, breach response, and investigations
- Partner with senior stakeholders to translate technical risks into business actions

- Measurable reduction in data leakage risk
- Strong visibility and governance over sensitive data environments
- A clear, executable roadmap for post-quantum readiness
Experience Required
- Proven leadership experience in data security, cybersecurity, or information security
- Deep expertise in DLP, encryption, and secure data architectures
- Strong understanding of cryptography, key management, and emerging threats
- Experience implementing security controls across cloud, on-prem, and endpoint environments
- Ability to influence at executive and board level
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CCSP) highly desirable
Desirable
- Experience with quantum or post-quantum cryptography initiatives
- Background in regulated industries (e.g., financial services, insurance, healthcare)
- Experience leading incident response and investigations
