Solutions Architect - FTSE 100 Client
12-Month Contract | Inside IR35 | £1,500 per day (Negotiable) | West London (Fortnightly Office Attendance) | Strong Extension Potential
We are supporting a major FTSE 100 organisation embarking on several large-scale technology transformation programmes and are seeking an exceptional Solutions Architect to play a critical role in shaping its future-state architecture.
This is a high-profile opportunity for a strategic architect who combines top-tier consulting pedigree with hands-on delivery experience, capable of operating comfortably from the boardroom through to technical teams when required.
The Opportunity
You will be responsible for defining architecture across complex enterprise programmes, helping modernise a significant technology estate while balancing innovation against the realities of an extensive legacy environment.
Working closely with senior business and technology stakeholders, you will provide architectural leadership across major integration initiatives, technology modernisation programmes and strategic transformation projects.
The initial engagement is expected to be 12 months, with a strong likelihood of extension. The wider transformation roadmap extends well beyond the initial contract, with multiple programmes running in parallel and potential opportunities to remain engaged for several years.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and lead solution architecture for major enterprise integration and transformation programmes.
- Rapidly build a deep understanding of a highly complex business and technology landscape.
- Define pragmatic modernisation strategies while protecting critical legacy platforms and services.
- Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt and improve long-term architectural sustainability.
- Drive architectural decisions and secure alignment across senior business and technology stakeholders.
- Influence executives and programme leadership teams on strategic technology direction.
- Challenge vendors, systems integrators and third parties where necessary to ensure the best outcomes.
- Provide technical leadership and unblock delivery teams when required.
- Review architecture, design and code-level implementations where needed, although this is not a hands-on development role day-to-day.
- Support multiple transformation initiatives across a large and evolving technology portfolio.
Essential Experience
- Significant experience operating as a Solutions Architect, Lead Architect or Enterprise Architect within large-scale enterprise environments.
- Top-tier consultancy experience is essential. We are particularly interested in candidates from MBB and similar consulting firms,
- Demonstrable blend of consulting experience and real-world delivery ownership within complex client environments.
- Proven track record delivering large-scale system integration, modernisation and transformation programmes.
- Experience working within organisations with substantial legacy technology estates.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including engagement with C-suite and senior leadership teams.
- Technical credibility with the ability to dive into architecture, engineering discussions and code when required to unblock teams.
Desirable Experience
- Experience gained within operationally complex industries such as:
- Airlines
- Logistics
- Supply Chain
- Transportation
Working Arrangements
- Hybrid working model.
- Fortnightly office attendance required in West London.
- Remaining time can be spent remotely.
Package
- Circa £1,500 per day Inside IR35
- Flexibility available for outstanding candidates.
- Initial 12-month contract.
- Strong likelihood of extensions and involvement across multiple programmes.
- Opportunity to influence strategic technology decisions within a FTSE 100 environment.
Ideal Profile
We are looking for an architect with a profile similar to an ex-MBB consultant who has gone on to lead major technology transformations in industry-someone equally comfortable advising executives, driving strategic decisions, challenging vendors, and engaging deeply enough with engineering teams to ensure successful delivery.
If you combine exceptional consulting credentials with proven architecture leadership and transformation delivery experience, we would be keen to hear from you.
