HCD Service Designer

Location: UK Wide (Remote) | Working Pattern: Full-time Contract | Rate: Up to £390 per day (Inside IR35) | Benefits: Remote Working

We are seeking an experienced HCD Service Designer to lead end-to-end service design activities across a high-profile programme. This is an excellent opportunity to shape user-centred services, influence strategic decision-making, and drive measurable outcomes across complex environments.

This role sits within a highly collaborative digital delivery team, working across multidisciplinary stakeholders to design, test, and improve services that meet user needs while balancing business, operational, and technical requirements.

About the Opportunity

You will be responsible for leading service design from discovery through to definition, creating evidence-based recommendations and aligning stakeholders around a shared vision. You'll work across digital and physical touchpoints, helping organisations deliver effective, user-centred services at scale.

Responsibilities

    - Lead service design activities from discovery to definition

    - Plan and manage multi-method research, including governance, consent and ethics

    - Produce end-to-end service blueprints and system maps covering people, process, technology and policy

    - Facilitate co-creation workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions

    - Design and evaluate service experiments, pilots and prototypes

    - Define service architecture, operating models, roles, channels and touchpoints

    - Collaborate with Product Managers and Product Owners to shape roadmaps and identify risks and dependencies

    - Coach and mentor designers while maintaining high-quality service design standards

Requirements

    - Significant commercial experience in Service Design or Service Strategy roles

    - Strong Human-Centred Design (HCD) expertise

    - Proven experience leading end-to-end service design engagements

    - Excellent stakeholder management and facilitation skills

    - Ability to synthesise qualitative and quantitative research into actionable insights

    - Experience creating service blueprints, system maps and service architecture artefacts

    - Strong communication, leadership and collaboration skills

Desirable Experience

    - NHS service design experience

    - Experience working on GOV.UK services

    - Delivery within complex public sector environments

    - Experience measuring service outcomes and creating value models

UK Wide (Remote), Up to £450 per day Inside IR35, Full-time Contract, Remote Working.
