Job role
We are recruiting for a Senior Software Developer (PHP) on behalf of a major UK public‑sector organisation and we’ve been appointed as the sole supplier and have a full brief from their digital recruitment leads.
You’d be working on one of the largest transactional platforms in the UK, used daily by tens of thousands of professionals and processing millions of transactions. The organisation is modernising its entire digital estate, with long‑term investment in PHP, TypeScript, AWS, and cloud‑native engineering.
Role Overview

Role Overview
- Build and maintain large‑scale applications using PHP and TypeScript
- Develop user‑focused digital services within Agile teams
- Work with Git, Jira, unit testing, and modern engineering practices
- Support documentation and mentor junior developers
- Help transition from legacy Zend/Laminas to Laravel
Essential Experience
- Strong enterprise‑level PHP background
- Experience with Zend and/or Laravel
- Solid MySQL and RESTful API skills
- Linux-based development
- Cloud exposure (AWS ideal)
- TypeScript experience or willingness to upskill
Tech & Projects
- PHP, MySQL, Linux, AWS
- Serverless TypeScript services
- AI-driven document analysis, cloud-based image recognition
- Payment integrations and new feature delivery across a huge national platform
- At least 50% new feature development
