Job Advert: AI Security & Data Risk Lead (Contract - 3-6 Months, Remote, Outside IR35)
Competitive Rate | Remote (UK/EU) with Occasional Travel to London | Multinational Group Function | Outside IR35
We are seeking an exceptional AI Security & Data Risk Lead to join a multinational organisation at the Group level, supporting the formation of a new global AI Enablement & Data Governance function. This is a strategic contract role (3-6 months) outside IR35, with a strong likelihood of extension, as the organisation enters the execution phase of a major AI and data compliance transformation.
This position offers the opportunity to drive real impact at scale-shaping AI security, data risk frameworks, and regulatory compliance across a complex global enterprise.
About the Role
As the AI Security & Data Risk Lead, you will guide the organisation through emerging AI regulatory requirements, data protection risks, and security considerations tied to enterprise AI adoption. Operating at Group level, you will lead the assessment of data-related risks, design governance and compliance frameworks, and collaborate with senior stakeholders across Legal, Security, Data, Engineering, and other business functions.
This is a remote position with occasional travel to London for leadership alignment and key workshops.
What You Will Do
- Lead enterprise data risk assessments and ensure compliance with GDPR, data residency, transfer obligations, and contractual customer requirements.
- Define the AI security and governance stack required for responsible and compliant AI adoption across the enterprise.
- Align organisational practices with the EU AI Act, NIST AI Risk Management Framework, and other emerging global standards.
- Shape the operating model and capability roadmap for a newly formed AI & Data function.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners involved in risk, security, data architecture, and compliance transformation.
- Establish data governance foundations including master data management, semantic layers, metadata standards, and data quality processes.
- Provide senior advisory to Group-level leadership and influence decision-making across the organisation.
- Support the transition from strategy into execution, with the potential to lead implementation workstreams as the transformation progresses.
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years in Data Protection, Data Governance, Information Security, or related domains.
- Deep expertise in GDPR, global data compliance, and enterprise data risk.
- Strong understanding of AI governance/security frameworks (EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC AI standards).
- Proven ability to design governance models, risk controls, and scalable enterprise processes.
- Experience working in or advising large multinational organisations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior executives and cross-functional teams.
- Comfortable driving outcomes in a high-ambiguity, fast-evolving environment.
