THE OPPORTUNITY
Our client is a major, globally recognised brand undergoing a significant digital transformation across a technology function of approximately 1,600 people. They are looking for a Head of Transformation, Change & Capability to sit at the heart of their Digital leadership team, reporting directly to the Director.
This is not a traditional programme management or delivery lead role. Think of it as a strategic chief of staff position with real operational teeth. You will be the Director’s right hand — the person who translates leadership vision into action, lands critical communications across a large and complex domain, drives cultural change, and builds capability at scale. If you thrive at the intersection of strategy, communication and people development, this role was designed for you.
THE THREE PILLARS OF THE ROLE
1. Strategic Communications & Chief of Staff
This is the heartbeat of the role. Working directly alongside the Director, you will own the landing of communication and change across the entire domain. That means crafting compelling internal communications, leading engagement activities such as showcases and team events, and driving through strategic initiatives that support the health and cohesion of the whole group. You will be the connective tissue between leadership intent and on-the-ground reality — ensuring the right messages reach the right people, and that strategic direction translates into momentum. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, facilitating cross-functional decision-making and alignment, and providing the Director with the strategic reporting and actionable insights needed to steer a large, complex function.
2. Capability Building & Team Health
You must bring a proven track record of driving measurable change and improvement in team health, skill and capability. This includes developing and executing people plans, building a robust pipeline of skilled professionals, defining and embedding target operating models, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You will be accountable for organisational health indicators and will lead domain transformation covering capability, process and people. This is someone who has demonstrably improved the health and performance of large technology teams — not just talked about it.
3. Agile Methodology & Continuous Improvement
The organisation operates at scale using SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework). You will need a solid understanding of agile methodologies and the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and change. This includes supporting enterprise-level events such as Portfolio PI Planning, coaching agile leaders, and introducing delivery metrics frameworks to track performance. While deep agile expertise is valued, this pillar is about applying agile thinking pragmatically to drive better outcomes — not about process orthodoxy.
