Job role
An organisation operating in a complex, multi‑entity environment is seeking an ERP Specialist to support and continuously improve its enterprise systems. The role is centred on Sage X3, with some exposure to Business Central, and supports a broad range of operational areas including finance, supply chain, manufacturing, distribution and commercial functions. Acting as a functional expert, the ERP Specialist works closely with business stakeholders to ensure the ERP platforms are stable, well governed and aligned to operational needs.
The role provides first and second line functional support, resolving incidents and service requests through structured investigation and root cause analysis. Requests and incidents are managed through the service management tool in line with agreed service levels, with coordination of third‑party support partners where needed. Maintaining clear, accurate and auditable support documentation is a key responsibility.
The ERP Specialist is responsible for system configuration and administration, including maintaining parameters and configurations, managing user access, permissions and security profiles, and ensuring segregation of duties and governance requirements are met. Workflows, approvals and system controls are maintained to support accuracy, compliance and auditability, alongside small‑scale configuration changes and routine system maintenance.
Change and release support is an important element of the role. This includes assessing change requests, documenting functional requirements, supporting testing activities and coordinating user acceptance testing. The ERP Specialist contributes to release planning, patching and controlled deployments, ensuring changes follow defined lifecycle management, governance and approval processes.
The role supports data integrity across the ERP landscape, including data imports, validation and accuracy checks. It also assists with reporting and business intelligence requirements and carries out data analysis to support business teams and highlight improvement opportunities.
Continuous improvement is central to the position. The ERP Specialist identifies ways to streamline processes, enhance system configuration and promote best‑practice usage. Supporting and enabling end users to make effective use of the ERP systems is a key part of delivering sustained value.
Close collaboration with stakeholders and vendors is essential. The role works with business process owners to understand priorities and requirements, liaises with ERP and integration partners to resolve issues and deliver improvements, and supports vendor reviews and audit activities where required.
Success in the role is demonstrated through reliable service delivery, strong governance and change control, effective support of testing and release activities, high data quality and positive feedback from stakeholders and end users.
