Senior Python / AWS MLOps Engineer

12 Month Contract | Inside IR35 | Up to £700 per Day | West London (2/3 Days a Week) | FTSE 100 Enterprise Organisation

An outstanding opportunity for a Senior Python / AWS MLOps Engineer to join a FTSE 100 enterprise organisation on a major technology and data transformation programme.

This is a 12-month initial contract offering up to £700 per day Inside IR35, with a high probability of extension beyond the initial term. The role is predominantly remote, requiring only 2/3 days a week in the West London office, and can start ASAP.

The Opportunity

Joining a large-scale enterprise environment, you will play a key role in designing, building and optimising production-grade software and machine learning platforms. This is not a traditional data science environment focused on notebooks and prototypes; we are seeking a strong engineer who can deliver robust, scalable and maintainable solutions that operate reliably in production.

You will work closely with engineering, platform, data and machine learning teams, contributing throughout the full software development lifecycle while helping drive engineering excellence across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality, production-ready software using Python
• Design, build and maintain cloud-native solutions within AWS
• Support and enhance MLOps capabilities, deployment pipelines and ML infrastructure
• Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and design through to deployment and monitoring
• Improve the performance and computational efficiency of algorithms and data pipelines
• Champion engineering best practices, coding standards and software quality
• Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to colleagues
• Contribute beyond backend engineering, supporting internal tooling, dashboards and engineering applications
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define scalable technical solutions

Essential Skills

• Strong commercial experience developing software in Python
• Proven hands-on AWS experience
• Previous experience working within MLOps environments
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and coding best practices
• Experience building scalable, maintainable production systems
• CI/CD, testing and deployment automation expertise
• Ability to optimise performance across applications, algorithms and pipelines
• Strong stakeholder engagement and collaborative working style
• Experience mentoring or reviewing the work of other engineers

Desirable Skills

• Kubernetes and Docker
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation etc.)
• Machine Learning platform engineering
• Monitoring, logging and observability tools
• Front-end development experience for internal tools and dashboards
