Senior Manager - Applied AI, Public Sector & Health
London (hybrid) | Up to £120,000 base + profit share + benefits

Lots of public sector organisations have run an AI pilot. Far fewer have got one into live service, governed properly, with someone able to show what it has actually changed. This role is about closing that gap.

I'm working with a highly regarded global management and technology consultancy that is growing its AI capability across public sector clients, with health as a core area of focus. They're hiring a Senior Manager to lead engagements where AI is applied to real operational problems and taken all the way through to production. Typical problems include demand and capacity, triage, casework, workforce and service redesign.

The starting point is the business problem, not the model. You'll work out where AI will move outcomes, be honest about where it won't, and then lead the team that makes it work in a live environment.

What you'll be doing

• Owning engagements end to end, from shaping and winning the opportunity through to delivery. You'll be accountable for scope, quality, risk and client outcomes.
• Working with senior public sector leaders to identify and prioritise AI opportunities. You'll assess feasibility, risk and value, and turn that into a credible roadmap.
• Leading multidisciplinary teams of consultants, data scientists and engineers, and developing the people in them.
• Taking AI solutions from prototype into live deployment. That includes the governance, information security, data protection and assurance that public sector delivery demands.
• Leading bids and proposals, including writing the solution and delivery sections yourself.
• Building client relationships that turn into follow-on work, and helping shape the practice's propositions, methods and reusable assets as it grows.
• Staying credible on the technology. That means agentic AI and LLM-based workflows, RAG, the ML lifecycle and MLOps, and cloud AI platforms across Azure, AWS and GCP. You won't be writing code day to day, but you'll need enough depth to challenge an architecture and hold your own with a client CTO.

What you'll bring

• A track record of getting AI or advanced analytics into live operational use in the public sector or another regulated environment. Health experience is particularly welcome.
• Experience leading engagements, a practice or a team with real commercial accountability, at Senior Manager, Director or equivalent level. That could be in consulting, at an AI or health-tech vendor, or client-side.
• Bid and proposal experience, ideally including leading significant public sector work.
• A working understanding of how government and NHS organisations operate, and how to get AI through governance, procurement, information governance and clinical or operational safety.
• The ability to hold a room with an executive board and a technical design team in the same week.
• A pragmatic, outcome-first view of AI. You're more interested in what changes on the ground than in the technology for its own sake.

The package

Base salary up to £120,000, plus a firm-wide profit share scheme, five weeks' annual leave, hybrid working, an annual wellbeing fund and paid volunteering days. No security clearance is required.
