Contract: 9-12 Months (Strong potential for extension)
Location: West London (Weekly office visits preferred, potentially fortnightly for the right candidate)
Rate: Up to £1,000 per day for the right person

We're recruiting for an experienced AI Engineer to join a high-profile AI transformation programme. This is an opportunity to help design, build and deploy production-grade AI solutions that will have a genuine impact across the business.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working at the intersection of software engineering, AI, cloud platforms and product delivery, with the ability to take ownership of complex technical challenges from concept through to deployment.

Essential Requirements

Candidates must have:

• 10+ years of total technology experience
• Experience working for a top-tier consultancy (Accenture, Deloitte, EY, KPMG, PwC, McKinsey, BCG, Capgemini, Cognizant, IBM Consulting, etc.) or a high-growth technology start-up/scale-up
• Strong Python development experience
• Experience building and deploying AI-powered applications in production
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, AI agents, RAG pipelines and modern AI frameworks
• Strong cloud experience, ideally AWS
• Experience designing APIs and microservices architectures
• Knowledge of AI security, governance, guardrails and responsible AI practices
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy AI-enabled products and intelligent workflows
• Build scalable backend services using Python and modern engineering practices
• Develop agentic AI solutions and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) capabilities
• Integrate AI technologies into enterprise platforms and business processes
• Implement evaluation frameworks, monitoring and observability for AI systems
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders, architects, engineers and product teams
• Drive best practice across AI engineering, security and operational excellence

Preferred Experience

• FastAPI
• LangGraph, Claude Agent SDK, LangChain or similar frameworks
• Vector databases and embeddings
• Docker and CI/CD pipelines
• AI platform engineering
• Enterprise-scale cloud environments
