On behalf of the University of Nottingham, I’m delighted to be leading the retained search for their next Chief Digital and Information Officer (CDIO) — a pivotal executive role that will define and deliver the University’s digital, information and technology strategy.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the CDIO will lead the Digital Technology Services (DTS) function and drive a forward-thinking digital agenda that empowers academic excellence, operational effectiveness, research innovation, and an outstanding student experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Shape and deliver a digital and information strategy aligned with the University’s vision, advising senior leaders and representing the institution nationally and internationally.
- Innovation & Transformation: Embed emerging technologies including AI, automation, immersive learning, and advanced analytics to enhance education, research and operations.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee secure, resilient and high-performing digital and IT services, ensuring cost-effective delivery and seamless support.
- Data Strategy: Advance the University’s data capabilities to enable evidence-based decision-making and innovative use of analytics.
- People Leadership: Lead diverse, high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, growth and inclusion.
What You’ll Bring:
- Proven strategic leadership at institutional or sector level, translating digital opportunities into organisational value.
- Senior experience in IT, digital transformation, strategic planning or data analytics within a large, complex organisation.
- A track record of delivering enterprise-wide transformation and technology-enabled innovation.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Inspirational people leadership with a commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
