Data Platform Engineer

Are you passionate about building modern cloud data platforms that enable businesses to make better decisions through trusted data?

We're supporting a forward thinking organisation seeking a Data Platform Engineer to help develop and enhance its Azure based data platform. This is an opportunity to play a key role in building secure, scalable and reliable data pipelines that support reporting, analytics and future AI initiatives.

Working within a collaborative data function, you'll partner with Data Product Engineers, Architects, Governance teams and business stakeholders to deliver high quality, well governed data services across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and support scalable data pipelines using Azure and Databricks
• Ingest and transform data from multiple operational systems
• Develop robust ETL/ELT solutions that support reporting and analytics
• Implement data quality, validation and reconciliation processes
• Improve platform performance, reliability and cost efficiency
• Support metadata management, data lineage and governance initiatives
• Utilise Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and DevOps best practices
• Create clear technical documentation, monitoring and operational runbooks

What We're Looking For

• Commercial experience building cloud based data platforms
• Strong Databricks experience
• Strong SQL and Python development skills
• Exposure to Scala would be highly advantageous
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics or similar cloud data services
• Understanding of data governance, security and data quality principles
• Experience working with Git, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
