Wintel Infrastructure Engineer (Image Engineering Focus)
Contract: 6 months
Location: UK or Netherlands (hybrid / remote options)
We’re supporting a large, global enterprise within the energy sector and are looking for an experienced Wintel Infrastructure Engineer to join on an initial 6‑month contract.
This role is image‑engineering heavy, supporting Windows, cloud and GPU‑enabled VDI platforms used in performance‑critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
Image Engineering
- Build, maintain and optimise Windows golden images
- Windows AMI creation and Azure Image Builder (or equivalent packer-based workflows)
- Golden image lifecycle management, versioning and release processes
- CI/CD integration for automated image builds and updates
Configuration Management
- Ansible for Windows environments (WinRM, Windows modules, DSC integration)
- Development of idempotent, role-based playbooks
- Ensure consistency, repeatability and scalability across environments
High‑Performance Computing / GPU VDI
- NVIDIA drivers and GPU enablement (GRID / CUDA)
- Support remote display protocols (DCV, PCoIP, HDX)
- Exposure to HPC workloads (Petrel, OpenGL/Qt, CUDA, MPI) is desirable
Operating Model
- Work autonomously with minimal supervision
- Proactively identify improvements around stability, automation and cost optimisation
- Strong troubleshooting capability with a structured RCA approach
Experience Required
- Strong Wintel / Windows infrastructure engineering background
- Proven experience in image engineering at scale
- Cloud experience (Azure and/or AWS)
- Automation-first mindset with solid Ansible capability
- Comfortable operating in complex enterprise environments
