Analytics Engineer (DBT) Contract
Up to £750 per day | Hybrid (2 days onsite, West London) | Initial 6 Month Contract
We're supporting a FTSE 100 client undergoing a significant transformation of its data and analytics capability and are looking for an experienced Analytics Engineer to join an established team delivering a business-critical reporting and insight platform.
This is not a greenfield project. You'll be joining a highly capable team that is already building a modern data model and single source of truth using DBT, helping to consolidate years of disparate reporting, business logic and KPI definitions into trusted, scalable analytical models.
The Role
Working closely with engineering, analytics and business stakeholders, you'll help translate complex operational processes into robust, well-governed DBT models that power reporting, self-service analytics and future AI-driven capabilities.
A key part of the role will involve understanding existing reports, dashboards and SQL logic, uncovering the business rules behind them, and designing clean, reusable data models that create consistency across the organisation.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex business problems, engaging with stakeholders and building high-quality analytics solutions at scale.
What You'll Be Doing
- Designing and developing analytics-focused data models using DBT
- Creating trusted datasets and KPI frameworks that support business reporting and decision-making
- Working with stakeholders to understand and define complex business metrics
- Translating legacy reporting logic into scalable, maintainable data models
- Collaborating with Data Engineers, Data Scientists and business users across the organisation
- Improving data quality, testing, monitoring and governance across analytical workloads
- Leveraging modern tooling and AI-assisted approaches to accelerate analysis and delivery
What We're Looking For
- Strong hands-on experience with DBT in medium to large-scale environments
- Proven background in Analytics Engineering, BI Engineering, Data Analytics or Data Engineering
- Experience delivering data modelling solutions that support reporting, KPIs and business intelligence
- Strong SQL expertise and data warehousing experience
- Experience with platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouses
- Understanding of reporting and visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau or equivalent
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to quickly understand complex business domains and translate requirements into effective data models
Ideal Background
We're particularly interested in candidates who have progressed from a Data Analyst, BI Developer, BI Engineer or similar background into Analytics Engineering. You'll be naturally inquisitive, commercially minded and comfortable discussing metrics and data challenges with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Industry experience is not essential. Whether you've worked in enterprise environments, high-growth businesses or startups, the key requirement is a track record of delivering impactful DBT-driven analytics solutions in complex environments.
Contract Details
- Rate: Up to £750 per day
- Duration: Initial 6-month contract (likely extension to 9+ months)
- Location: West London
- Working Pattern: Hybrid, 2 days per week onsite
- Start Date: ASAP
If you're an experienced Analytics Engineer with deep DBT expertise and enjoy turning complex business logic into elegant, scalable data models, we'd love to hear from you.
