Project Manager - Data Centre Migration
Location: Midlands (Hybrid) | Working Pattern: Contract (Outside IR35) - 6 months | Day Rate: £500 per day
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Contract Project Manager to lead a major UK data centre migration programme. This role will play a critical part in delivering a large scale infrastructure transformation, ensuring a seamless transition while protecting business operations and maintaining service continuity.
Our client is undertaking a significant technology transformation involving the relocation of its UK data centre environment to a new European hosting location. Working alongside internal infrastructure teams, international stakeholders and third-party suppliers, you will take ownership of the UK delivery workstream and drive the migration through to successful completion.

Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end UK delivery of the data centre migration programme
- Manage technical migration activities across infrastructure, networking and connectivity workstreams
- Coordinate networking activities, including dress rehearsals and the final migration cutover
- Oversee the reconfiguration of connectivity across UK and Ireland branch locations
- Manage third party supplier transitions, including VPN and payment system changes
- Act as the key liaison between UK stakeholders and international technical teams
- Identify, manage and mitigate project risks to ensure business continuity
- Provide regular programme updates to sponsors and key stakeholders
Requirements
- Proven experience delivering complex data centre migration projects
- Strong technical infrastructure background with the ability to engage technical teams effectively
- Experience managing projects within Wintel environments
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Strong programme governance, planning and risk management capabilities
- Experience coordinating complex networking and connectivity projects
- Willingness to travel across the UK as required
Desirable Experience
- IBM i Series environment experience
- Retail sector project experience
- Cloud migration programme delivery
- Experience working with major managed service providers such as Kyndryl or similar organisations
