Head of PMO / Portfolio Director – Contract Opportunity

£650 per day | Outside IR35

5-Month Contract | UK-Based Remote

Overview:

A leading organisation is preparing to launch a strategic contract opportunity for an experienced Head of PMO or Portfolio Director to support a major Technology Change initiative. This role will focus on improving portfolio visibility, standardising reporting, and optimising delivery frameworks and capacity planning.

This is a potential upcoming requirement, with mobilisation expected within the next 4 weeks.

Key Objectives:

• Portfolio Reporting & Dashboards: Define and implement standardised reporting metrics, templates, and automated dashboards using Power BI.
• Tooling & Delivery Frameworks: Evaluate and optimise delivery methodologies, processes, and tooling to support scalable, compliant change.
• Capacity Planning: Design a flexible, scalable approach to resource planning across the technology change function.

Responsibilities:

Reporting & Dashboard Management

• Define KPIs for portfolio health, risks, issues, and financials in collaboration with senior stakeholders (CIO, Global Head of Tech Change).
• Standardise reporting templates for SteerCo/IPR and automate dashboards.
• Establish reporting cadence and distribution processes.

Tooling & Process Optimisation

• Review and refine delivery methodologies and frameworks.
• Lead tooling enablement to support change delivery.
• Document best practices and facilitate retrospectives for continuous improvement.

Capacity Planning

• Develop a scalable approach to capacity planning.
• Improve responsiveness to variable demand across the change portfolio.

Candidate Profile:

• Proven experience in senior PMO or Portfolio leadership roles within Technology Change.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including C-suite.
• Expertise in reporting automation (Power BI), governance, and delivery frameworks.
• Comfortable operating in remote environments with distributed teams.
