Job role
IT Project Manager – Technical Delivery & M&A Integration | Up to £50,000 | Sheffield / Harrogate / Flexible
This is a role for someone who doesn't need everything handed to them.
A fast-growing, acquisitive business is looking for an IT Project Manager to own two things: integrating newly acquired companies into their technology estate, and driving the tech debt remediation and modernisation agenda that comes with rapid growth. Neither is fully figured out yet - and that's part of the appeal.
On the M&A side, you'll be doing this at pace and at volume. Some acquisitions are small - ten people, an MSP relationship, a handful of systems to migrate. Others are larger, more complex, and need proper planning, colleague engagement, and a playbook you'll help build. You'll be the person who understands what an acquired business actually has, talks to their people, manages the MSP conversations, and gets them across cleanly.
On the modernisation side, you'll be looking at legacy environments and working out what needs rationalising, what needs replacing, and how to move it forward. Primarily Microsoft stack, but there's variety in what you'll encounter - you'll need enough technical depth to make sense of what you're looking at.
What they need from you:
- Comfort with ambiguity. The processes and procedures are still being built. If you need a fully defined framework before you can operate, this probably isn't right. If you're the person who builds the framework, it might be exactly right.
- Technical grounding across Microsoft 365, Azure, identity, infrastructure, and migrations — enough to have credible conversations with MSPs, vendors, and IT teams at acquired businesses.
- Strong people skills. A lot of this is about bringing colleagues on a journey through change they didn't ask for. That takes patience and communication, not just a project plan.
- Some prior exposure to integrations, migrations, or infrastructure delivery. M&A experience is a plus, not a must.
The salary is up to £50,000 depending on experience, with flexibility on location between Sheffield and Harrogate.
